JustHouseMKE is a non profit organization based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Our mission is to create a Tenant and Landlord Bill of Rights for the citizens of Milwaukee. Founded by a group of concerned citizens, JustHouseMKE is driven by a passion for justice and a desire to make a positive impact in our community. We are committed to working with lawmakers, landlords, and renters to create a more fair and equitable rental environment for all.

We believe that all renters deserve to live in safe and habitable housing, and we are dedicated to advocating for the rights of tenants and helping to improve the rental market in Milwaukee.
Kat Klawes (she/her) is an educator and activist. She was born in Milwaukee and has worked in both Michigan and Wisconsin. Her work includes being a bill author, and running advocacy groups. Housing is a personal issue for Kat as she experienced homelessness at age 4 when her family home had a fire, causing her and her family to have to move into a one-room motel. Kat lives on the East Side of Milwaukee with her partner and three cats. Her work has been featured in the Huffington Post, NY Mag, and has received awards from Buzzfeed and Bank of America.
Lindsey is experienced in supporting and working with youth who have been sexually exploited or trafficked and children and youth affected by gender-based violence. She has mentored, led, and created discussions surrounding various topics such as empowerment, identity, sexuality, expression, and mental health. Her previous role as an advocate directly supported youth navigating challenging legal, medical and housing systems. Lindsey’s continued passion for equity has led her into community and field organizing.
